Moonee Valley now has 13 more champions who can deliver their own sustainability projects in the community as our 2019 Sustainability Champions Program participants graduated on Thursday, 31 October.
Participants in this Council-funded program received 10 weeks of training covering project management, communications, advocacy, budgeting and volunteer management. They also met like-minded people keen to work together to deliver positive community outcomes.
Here's some of what this year’s graduates had to say:
- “It's a great program, wonderful to meet other like-minded people. It left me feeling fired up to make a project the best that it can and mix more with the local community.”
- “Thank you, I have learned a lot over the 10 weeks. I enjoyed very much hearing from interesting speakers on a variety of topics. I've been exposed to ideas and information I may not have otherwise encountered in my every day.”
- “Plenty of opportunities for group involvement, even for people like me who don't actively want to be in the spotlight”
- “I joined the program not really sure what to expect, but finished completely inspired and with a project I'm really excited to be working on.”
Champions are now busy working away on their projects including a Sharing Shed for Moonee Valley and a local Gardens for Wildlife group.
If you’re interested in becoming a Sustainability Champion, registrations are open for our 2020 program.
